Kamakura – Dessert Shop

This is one of my favorite place to have lunch in Saigon. Kamakura in District 1. I heard about this place from my Japanese friend. She said they have a good lunch set with reasonable price. Plus the owner is Japanese. I like Japanese restaurant with Japanese owner 😀

Lunch Menu Set

Their lunch set only available from 11.00 am to 2.00 pm everyday (except Sunday). They are very cheap for a price of set menu. I tried karaage menu set.

Karaage Lunch Set

One set always come with a bowl of rice, miso soup and vegetable on side. They were all really good. I especially like the miso soup and veggie. Their karaage was actually good, but it was too bland for my taste. I need to add salt or soy sauce to eat it. But overall it was a good deal!

Their menu was fulled with desserts and drinks. These 2 are just example of their menu.

Blueberry Yogurt

I ordered blueberry yogurt while I worked on my tablet. It was very delicious. I could order for more if my stomach didn’t scream from too many food! This one is recommended. Next time I will try their kakigori, or their other yogurt.

On another day, I tried their tonkatsu lunch set. It was good value for money! I like this little cafe lol. If you have time or if you’re around the area, stop by for lunch or for their desserts. Ciao 😉

Milo Ice Cream

Maybe some of you knew about this ice cream already, but not me. Just recently I found it in family mart. It was actually my husband who saw it. “Look! There’s milo ice cream! Let’s try it. It’s cheap anyway, only 8k vnd” he said.

There is 2 kind of milo ice cream as you can see on the picture above. First one has chocolate coated tip and second one has vanilla inside. I personally prefer the first one. It tasted better. Milo milk.. mmm yummy~

Which one have you tried? Let me know in comment below.

Berry Yogurt Snow @ MOF Japanese Cafe

Christmas is near! I didn’t realize that until I sat down in MOF Japanese Cafe and they gave us extra menu, Christmas Yokoso. A limited menu only from November 2nd to December 27th. This is terrible.. they look very appealing! Made me want to order one of them. I put the dessert menu aside. Let’s order main course first. That was our reason to go to MOF.

Normally after I finished eating I wouldn’t be able to eat dessert because I was too stuffed already. So it is wiser to order dessert after meal. But that’s not the case this time.. since I saw those interesting dessert, my plan was to eat small portion of main course then order a dessert 😀

Fish Chips
Fish Chips

This is my small meal. A fish chips (nope, it’s not fish and chips). This one is good, crunchy and just a little salty. Appropriate seasoning. Dip it in some kind of cheese sauce. Yummy~ I can eat more of these.

Next was time to pick and choose our dessert. My husband wanted to try one of their best seller last year, Berry Yogurt Snow. We ordered that. Then he asked me if I want to order another dessert for myself. I said no. There are combo menus as well, consists of 2 kind of desserts. Interesting, but better not. Might be too full was what I thought.

I made a right decision! This dessert was too big for 1 person (at least for me). The waiter came and explained how to eat it. We need to eat half of it then pour the sauce we like, then mix it altogether. There are 2 sauces, a raspberry sauce and maple syrup. There is also almond and rice crispy. It has 3 kind of berries, strawberries, raspberries and blackberries. The strawberries and raspberries are really sour, while the blackberries is bland. I couldn’t taste the yogurt, but I could taste milk on it. It’s rather disappointing given the appearance and its rank as best seller last year. Maybe other people likes it, but not me.

There is another “best seller last year” item in Christmas dessert menu. I will try that on my next visit to MOF.

Kem Bach Dang – Ice Cream Place in Ho Chi Minh City

After lunch, we went to a book store in Le Loi Street. On the way there, I saw this ice cream place, Kem Bach Dang. I went there once before with my friend. Kem in Vietnamese means Ice Cream. It’s a local ice cream shop. Someone told me that it’s like a local Haagen Dazs or Baskin-Robbins. The address is 28 Lê Lợi, Bến Nghé, Hồ Chí Minh, Vietnam.

When we came there, the waiter asked us to go upstairs. Their first floor also available, but it’s an open air area, no air-conditioner. So we went to second floor. Many tourists were there, so this place is quite famous i guess.

We sat on one of the corner and read the menu, while the waiter gave us free drink and a plate of pork pie (this one is not free). We ordered 1 ice cream each 😀

Strawberry Da Lat Ice Cream
Strawberry Da Lat Ice Cream

This one is recommended! The ice cream taste was really fresh, kind of like a sorbet. And the cookie also quite good.

4 Flavor Ice Cream
4 Flavor Ice Cream

I wanted to try Durian Ice Cream at first, but my husband found this 4-flavor ice cream. Hmm…tempting. It has strawberry ice cream, taro ice cream, durian ice cream and coconut ice cream. Ok i ordered it then. When it came, I tried it one by one. The strawberry ice cream has different taste than the one my husband ordered! This one taste like normal ice cream, a bit milky. I prefer sorbet-like strawberry ice cream. Taro ice cream was okay but not special. Coconut ice cream and durian ice cream were good, although i couldn’t tell which one is Coconut and which one is Durian. If i see from the color, the white one should be coconut flavor, and the yellow-green-ish one should be durian flavor. Maybe next time i will just order Durian Ice Cream xD
