Christmas is near! I didn’t realize that until I sat down in MOF Japanese Cafe and they gave us extra menu, Christmas Yokoso. A limited menu only from November 2nd to December 27th. This is terrible.. they look very appealing! Made me want to order one of them. I put the dessert menu aside. Let’s order main course first. That was our reason to go to MOF.
Normally after I finished eating I wouldn’t be able to eat dessert because I was too stuffed already. So it is wiser to order dessert after meal. But that’s not the case this time.. since I saw those interesting dessert, my plan was to eat small portion of main course then order a dessert 😀
This is my small meal. A fish chips (nope, it’s not fish and chips). This one is good, crunchy and just a little salty. Appropriate seasoning. Dip it in some kind of cheese sauce. Yummy~ I can eat more of these.
Next was time to pick and choose our dessert. My husband wanted to try one of their best seller last year, Berry Yogurt Snow. We ordered that. Then he asked me if I want to order another dessert for myself. I said no. There are combo menus as well, consists of 2 kind of desserts. Interesting, but better not. Might be too full was what I thought.
I made a right decision! This dessert was too big for 1 person (at least for me). The waiter came and explained how to eat it. We need to eat half of it then pour the sauce we like, then mix it altogether. There are 2 sauces, a raspberry sauce and maple syrup. There is also almond and rice crispy. It has 3 kind of berries, strawberries, raspberries and blackberries. The strawberries and raspberries are really sour, while the blackberries is bland. I couldn’t taste the yogurt, but I could taste milk on it. It’s rather disappointing given the appearance and its rank as best seller last year. Maybe other people likes it, but not me.
There is another “best seller last year” item in Christmas dessert menu. I will try that on my next visit to MOF.
I have been in Ho Chi Minh City for 10 months now, and I never tried one of their big coffee company, Highlands Coffee. On the other hand, I’ve been visited their competitor quite often (basically every time I have a guest they always want to go there). I heard about Highlands Coffee from my brother in law. He tried it couple years ago on his trip to Vietnam. He told me that for hot coffee Trung Nguyen still the best, while Highlands Coffee excel on their ice coffee.
And finally I had a chance to try it out. I went with my friend to Vivo City Mall, and she wanted to sit and relax on a coffee shop. There are several coffee shop in that mall, but I definitely don’t want to drink Starbucks (sorry!). She suggested we sit at Highlands Coffee because she likes it. I don’t mind, this is my chance! (Well, I could go alone to nearby Highlands Coffee shop but I’m just too lazy xD)
Since I didn’t know yet how strong is their coffee, I ordered ice coffee with milk (cha phe sua da) medium size. At least with ice and milk, if it’s a strong coffee I still can manage it. I have a weak stomach for coffee 😦
Just 1 sip and I can feel that this coffee is strong. It was really good, but it’s a strong coffee. I was struggling to finish it because my stomach started to hurt a bit.
I think this ice coffee is better than Trung Nguyen’s, but mind that this one is stronger. So if you can’t stand strong coffee, just order small size (or just ask your friend order this then you sip a little to try xD).
When I lived in Netherlands before, I used to drink this a lot. I like the taste, especially the dark chocolate one. I think this brand still the best chocolate milk I’ve tried.
The problem is I can’t find this in Asia 😦 This one I finally got it after my husband went for business trip there. They have changed the bottle, but the taste still the same! Delicious chocolate milk. I still have several packs in my refrigerator, but I don’t think it will last for long xD
