Baileys Boboshake Heytea

When I first saw their ads for this drink, I was so excited to try it. It’s Baileys and Boba, and made by one of my favorites tea shops. I thought it was just a limited event so I didn’t expect to see it still on the menu when I was at Heytea. Without thinking, I ordered it. It’s quite expensive though. S$9.9 for this drink. Pricey indeed. But hey, it’s Baileys!

After waiting for about 10 minutes, I finally received my drink. It was when social distancing started to be implemented in stores so they didn’t have enough people to cater the orders that were coming. So, long queue for making the drinks was expected.

Unfortunately, the taste didn’t live up to the long wait and the price. I barely tasted the Baileys and the I didn’t like the boba (it was kind of hard, not chewy). It tasted like a slush ice with a little bit of Baileys in it. At least, that’s what it tasted like for me. But, I saw many reviews saying it was nice, so it all comes back to personal preferences.

Have you tried it yourself? Please share your experience in the comment šŸ™‚

The Roti Prata House – Best Prata in Singapore

When my friends found out that I moved to Thomson area, they told me about this roti prata house. It’s quite close to my place, around 10 mins walking at a normal pace (my standard of normal. Maybe you can reach it faster than me!). However, I have just visited this place 2 days ago during my 1.5 weeks since I moved here. Yup, I’m that lazy.

It was after the church morning mass when I felt very hungry and decided to walk to the shophouses nearby. I thought I wouldn’t get a place to sit but I did. They gave me the menu, HUGE variant of roti prata. I haven’t even finished reading the menu or decided yet when the guy came and asked me what my order is.

The menu is double-sided. One side has pictures, but not everything is there. The other side has the full menu. Their roti prata is special because it’s crispy. They claimed it as the best crispy roti prata. After pondering on the menu, I decided to order Prata Cheese and Teh Tarik.

They were delicious!! I should’ve ordered another one but I didn’t (which I regretted it after 1 hr because I was hungry again). The roti prata was crispy and tasty, especially when I dipped it in the curry. Yum!

After finished eating, I had to go to the cashier bringing the order paper to pay for my meal. I wanted to use NETS card but unfortunately, it is only allowed for payment minimum of S$10. Better prepare cash if you want to eat here.

Today, I went there again and ordered a plain roti prata. It simply the best roti prata ever. I highly recommend this place. Not just because it is a famous place, but because they have the crispiest roti prata with affordable price.

Have you tried this place as well? Which roti prata is your favorite? Let me know in the comment. Ciao!

Eddie’s – New York Diner in Thao Dien Ho Chi Minh City

Lately, there are many new restaurants coming to Thao Dien area, mainly in Xuan Thuy street. But none of them bring the concept of American diner despite of many American living here. Last weekend, it appeared! Eddie’s – New York Diner was having their soft opening. Discount 20% during this period (while they have their staff trained more).

I was invited to go there last Sunday. It was late afternoon and an awkward time to have a meal, so we ordered Cinnamon Roll for share and a homemade soda for me.

I love the smell of cinnamon even though I’m not a big fan of bread. This cinnamon roll was delicious! It was not as sweet as normal cinnamon roll, but I think that is the plus point with many people avoiding sweet stuff nowadays. Overall it was great. I just thought maybe if they could heat it up a bit before serving that would be even better. A warm cinnamon roll, yum!

The homemade soda was also great. I had to move it to empty glass though because the taste was too light with a lot of ice cubes on the glass. It was better after that. I can taste the ginger and orange in it, and was still cold even without ice.

We were looking at the menu and my friend was explaining the names on the menu. Some of them I never heard of since I’ve never been to US nor American diner. Most of the food are meat. There are some salads menu as well. When we reached side dish section, I saw onion rings and I ask her if it’s possible to order it without main dish. We can!

I was so happy when it arrived. Onion rings is one of my favorite snack (although sometime I got sick after eating too many). This onion rings were awesome. The texture of the onion was perfect. The crispy batter was great. The only thing I would recommend is to sprinkle some salt on top of it before eating it. Pour some ketchup, dip the onion rings, and enjoy the crunchy batter and soft onion inside.

Next time I will try their main dish! Have you visited them? What is your favorite american diner dish? Tell me in comment below.

Chocomin – Dog themed chocolate pieces

I stumbled upon this chocolate shop on basement floor of Saigon Center mall. They are selling chocolate with a cute dog picture on the cover. And it’s actually has the shape of the dog on the chocolate too! Very cute. There are dark chocolate and white chocolate part on each chocolate piece. Depending on which type of dog, you get more white chocolate or more dark chocolate.

They have 2 type of packages, 68 pieces (800k vnd or around USD35) and 36 pieces (380k vnd or about USD17). I’m sure they are selling per piece as well. This can be a cute gift for a dog lover! Or for the incoming Tet (Vietnamese New Year) celebration.

Would you buy this chocolate? Let me know what do you think in the comment.

Ciao!

Tiger Topoki – Korean Restaurant

Before I wrote this post, I’ve just realized that lately, I’ve been writing about Korean stuff! I need to write about my trip to Thailand, but it takes so long to gather all the information and photos. So, for now, please enjoy this post šŸ˜€

Today I went for lunch at Saigon Center. At first I wanted to eat gyoza but then I remembered there is this Korean restaurant that sells toppokiĀ (Korean rice cake) so I checked it out. Their specialty is toppokiĀ but they also have fondue (fried chicken fondue!! I need to try this next time with someone, the portion looks big), assorted kimbap (rolled rice), soup, hot pot, ramen and some fried dishes. I was interested in kimbap and kimariĀ (deep fried glass noodle roll) so I entered the restaurant.

I took a good table because I can see video clip playing on the wall. Nice to kill time watching Korean singers if you like their music. I ordered kimchi kimbap and kimariĀ with no drink because they gave free water.

The place was quite empty when I came, so I thought I need to write something if theirĀ food turned out to be good. I took some photos of the interior just in case. Every table has a stove for the hotpot and toppoki.

My kimchi kimbap came first. Quite huge portion for 80k vnd! I knew immediately that I wouldn’t be able to finish it, but let’s think about that later. Dig in! It was delicious!! I would prefer more kimchi, but I guess no more space judging from how crowded was the fill. The sauce was awesome. It is made from sesame and wasabi! Yes, there is wasabi in there. Okay, the first dish was good so if the other one also good, this place definitely needs to be visited again.

I think I only ate 4 pieces of kimbap and make sure I have enough space for the second dish. Kimari! Deep fried glass noodle-seaweed roll. One portion is 5 pieces, not bad for 60k vnd. It came with soy sauce. This dish was also yummy. The glass noodle inside was so packed. I could only eatĀ 2 pieces of this. Too full after that..

So, this place is great for a visit with friends! Even if you come alone, still worth to visit since you can take away the leftover food if you can’t finish it. I did. Dinner settled!

If you want to try it, they are on the 5th floor in Saigon Center. At the opposite side of Pepper Lunch.

Have you tried it? Tell me what do you think in the comment.

Ciao!
