Tiger Topoki – Korean Restaurant

Before I wrote this post, I’ve just realized that lately, I’ve been writing about Korean stuff! I need to write about my trip to Thailand, but it takes so long to gather all the information and photos. So, for now, please enjoy this post šŸ˜€

Today I went for lunch at Saigon Center. At first I wanted to eat gyoza but then I remembered there is this Korean restaurant that sells toppokiĀ (Korean rice cake) so I checked it out. Their specialty is toppokiĀ but they also have fondue (fried chicken fondue!! I need to try this next time with someone, the portion looks big), assorted kimbap (rolled rice), soup, hot pot, ramen and some fried dishes. I was interested in kimbap and kimariĀ (deep fried glass noodle roll) so I entered the restaurant.

I took a good table because I can see video clip playing on the wall. Nice to kill time watching Korean singers if you like their music. I ordered kimchi kimbap and kimariĀ with no drink because they gave free water.

The place was quite empty when I came, so I thought I need to write something if theirĀ food turned out to be good. I took some photos of the interior just in case. Every table has a stove for the hotpot and toppoki.

My kimchi kimbap came first. Quite huge portion for 80k vnd! I knew immediately that I wouldn’t be able to finish it, but let’s think about that later. Dig in! It was delicious!! I would prefer more kimchi, but I guess no more space judging from how crowded was the fill. The sauce was awesome. It is made from sesame and wasabi! Yes, there is wasabi in there. Okay, the first dish was good so if the other one also good, this place definitely needs to be visited again.

I think I only ate 4 pieces of kimbap and make sure I have enough space for the second dish. Kimari! Deep fried glass noodle-seaweed roll. One portion is 5 pieces, not bad for 60k vnd. It came with soy sauce. This dish was also yummy. The glass noodle inside was so packed. I could only eatĀ 2 pieces of this. Too full after that..

So, this place is great for a visit with friends! Even if you come alone, still worth to visit since you can take away the leftover food if you can’t finish it. I did. Dinner settled!

If you want to try it, they are on the 5th floor in Saigon Center. At the opposite side of Pepper Lunch.

Have you tried it? Tell me what do you think in the comment.

Ciao!

Al Sham Restaurant – Middle East Meal in Ho Chi Minh City

I’ve heard about this place from the people in Facebook group and wanted to try it but didn’t have a chance yet, until that afternoon when I went shopping at YersinĀ Market.

It was about 10 minutes walk from the market so we decided to go there and try. My other 2 friends loveĀ middle east food so it will be a good chance to test their quality as well.

We ordered several dishes actually but I was too hungry and just took the picture of Mezza Platter and Falafel lol. If I remember correctly, we ordered Falafel, Mezza Platter, Falafel Sandwich, and Meat Samosa. The Mezza Platter comes with a bread.

Overall, they were tasty and worth the trip! I especially like their hummus and aubergine. Also, the falafel sandwich is better than I thought. Total bill was around 530k vnd for 3 people. If you like middle east / Mediterranean food, then you definitely have to try this restaurant.

Ramen Bar Masamune – new in Saigon!

There is a new ramen place in Le Thanh Ton street, at intersection with Thai Van Lung street. I don’t know the number but I’m sure you won’t miss it when you pass by. The place looks fancy from outside, and it is also fancy inside for a ramen place.

Their ramen is different style than Ramen Danbo. They have a clear soup and the flavours are only shio or shoyu (and the special one. I ordered shoyu ramen, while my husband ordered shio ramen. We also ordered fried chicken.

It was pretty good I must say. Crispy outside and juicy inside. The taste was delicious as well.

This is shoyu ramen. Their broth is not as rich as tonkotsu ramen but still delicious. It was refreshing to eat different type of ramen. The noodle was cooked nicely. We loved their texture that was a little bit chewy but soft as well. One thing bothered me was the smokey smell from the pork. It was really strong that the whole soup tasted smokey. But we both agreed that this smokey pork is the best pork meat on ramen so far!

The ramen was 120k vnd per portion. And fried chicken was 110k vnd. The price quite high between ramen places in Ho chi Minh City. It is a good change though from the tonkotsu style ramen.

How about you? Do you like a thick broth ramen or clear soup ramen? Let me know in comment šŸ˜‰

Raclette Cheese Pasta with Parma Ham from Pizza 4P’s

Pizza 4P’s has two new pasta menu using cheese. One is Blue Cheese Fettucine (which they claimed to has not-too-strong smell) and the other one is Raclette Cheese Pasta with Parma Ham. I’m interested in the latter because I love raclette cheese!

These new homemade pastas are not listed on their menu yet. So I had to asked the waiter for its availability. Luckily, that day it was available!

Raclette Cheese Pasta with Parma Ham

It was awesome! I loved the cheese taste on al-dente pasta. It reminded me of their cheese and pepper pasta (which is not available anymore), but that one was using pecorino cheese. This is one of my favorite pasta now at Pizza 4P’s!

Camembert set

We ordered the camembert set as well. And since the camembert with herbs is out of stock, we got 2 truffle camembert instead! I don’t mind at all šŸ˜† their truffle camembert is to die for. Have to try it.

My Saturday Journal

Today is Saturday! But most of ARC member were working almost full-day for ARC. Started with dogwalking, which strangely very quiet today with only 5 dogwalkers (and 12 dogs including our own dogs). I had to walk back and forth because one of the dog decided to stop walking and wanted to go back to clinic 😄 Molly is old so maybe she was tired from heat on her troubled skin. I could have stayed at clinic after took her back but Henry was with me and he needed to walk. This is why I had to go extra miles…

Molly

After the walk, we asked the clinic to take Rex (a dog yes.. not a dinosaur. Altho he acts like one..) out. He (we assumed it’s a male and we forgot to check when we met šŸ˜‘) was rescued several days ago and my friend almost lost her hand trying to catch him. He was still very scared and tried to bite his lead to run away. We sat quietly with him as part of rehab and training for about 30 mins. It was supposed to be 10-15 minutes but the staff was busy so we had to wait for them.

Rex

On this picture I could tell that he is better than the first time he came out. At that time he was still looking away. Sign of avoidance. His head was not hidden when I took this photo, which is a good progress.

Thai Pork Satay @Thai Street

I had only 30 mins to take shower and prepare stuffs for bazaar, then I went to D2 again for lunch (my driver would think why don’t I just live in D2?! šŸ˜…). We went to thai street (again) and ordered same dishes with exception for pork satay. Thai pork satay is different than the usual pork satay I’ve eaten. They used turmeric to marinate the meat. It was okay for me. My favorite dishes are still chicken green curry and fried flat noodle.

Champ

As soon as we finished eating, we went to clinic to take out T-shirts to sell at the bazaar. We also checked on Champ’s condition. He had seizure this morning and it was pretty bad. The seizure lasted for more than 1 hour! We are really worry about him. My friend told me there might be a problem with his brain, seeing how he is blind, partially deaf, walking very weird and has a crooked tail. Something might be wrong with his neuro-system. The vet was not there so we couldn’t get any update. We went to Saigon Outcast immediately after loading some T-shirts to my car.

There was boho market at Saigon Outcast today. ARC got a table to promote our organization and also fundraising at the same time. I brought the stuffs to our table with a help of one of the staff from Saigon Outcast (thank you very much!). My friends have finished setring ul the table when I arrived. All of our merchandises was displayed on table.

ARC table at Boho Market

I stayed there until 5.30pm and went home straight. My friends were still there when I left. They were staying until it finished, around 8pm. There was not many visitors coming to the bazaar unfortunately. Felt weird though because most of the time their bazaar was always packed. Wonder what went wrong.

Flower Ring from Kat Jewelry

I bought some jewelry from Kat Jewelry. They are one of my favorite shop on bazaar. They only sell silver accesories and mostly have unique design. This flower ring was 220k vnd. Not too bad. And the other one is dreamcatcher earrings. I bought the big one, it was 350k vnd if I’m not mistaken.

And there it goes our Saturday! We were all very tired but at least we enjoyed it. Thank you for reading my Saturday journal. I’m gonna sleep now to get ready for tomorrow. Another busy day for ARC!
